Christopher J. Moakley, Chief Executive Officer of Meridian Clean Fuels, is a graduate of The College of William and Mary (BA, Economics) and Boston University School of Law (JD, 1989). Mr. Moakley was admitted as a member of the Massachusetts Bar in 1989. Prior to joining Meridian, he was a Vice President for Chubb Life Insurance and Chubb Securities Corporation. Prior to this, he was a Compliance Officer for a leading mutual life insurance company. As Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Moakley is responsible for managing Meridian Clean Fuels. He directs energy product origination, industry relations and regularly visits with Congressional staff as an advocate for Public-Private tax credit partnerships to decrease U.S. dependence on foreign oil. Mr. Moakley manages the Minneapolis, MN office of Meridian.
Gary Goldman, Senior Vice President of Meridian Clean Fuels, has over eighteen years of experience in the tax credit industry. Mr. Goldman focuses on business development opportunities for companies needing tax credit equity and bridge financing in the wind, solar and geothermal industries. Previously, Gary was with Credit Suisse and prior to that he was with Ernst & Young. Mr. Goldman has advised both buyers and sellers of direct and fund investments in excess of $1.5 billion. His experience includes advising institutional investors in both guaranteed and unguaranteed investments. In addition to syndicating renewable energy tax credits, Mr. Goldman developed financial models for major tax credit sponsors, advised investors in performing due diligence, structured legal and tax issues, and negotiated acquisitions of historic properties and portfolios of housing and tax credit investments. He has also monitored the operations and tax credit compliance of projects for institutional investors. Mr. Goldman is a graduate of the University of Vermont with a BA in Economics. He is based in our Boston, MA office.
Erik Pratt, Vice President of Meridian Clean Fuels, holds degrees from the University of St. Thomas (MBA, 2006), the University of Wisconsin-Madison (M.S., Natural Resources Planning, 1999) and the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (B.S., Ecology). Mr. Pratt came to Meridian from Northland Securities, where he was Senior Analyst for corporate finance and commercial lending syndications. Prior to his work in finance, he had a decade of experience in energy public policy and the promotion of alternative energy technology, including as an analyst for the State of Wisconsin energy office and manager of the energy program at the Minnesota Environmental Initiative. Mr. Pratt is based in Meridian’s Minneapolis, Minnesota office.
Douglas McDonald, Consultant, Meridian Clean Fuels, is a consultant working out of our Washington, DC office and is part of the financial analysis team supporting energy syndications and initiatives. Mr. McDonald was employed by Meridian from March 2000 to December, 2009. He holds degrees in economics from The Johns Hopkins University (MA, 1986, PhD, 1990) and The College of Wooster (BA, 1980). Prior to joining Meridian, Mr. McDonald served as a consultant in the areas of strategic energy planning, price risk management, project finance, and fuel procurement at Pace Global Energy Services, the Washington Consulting Group, and the Energy Futures Group. He has co-authored several articles and book chapters on energy-related financial matters in trade publications and technical journals.
